A great resource to get learners excited about the Halloween and Day of the Dead 2016! The resource includes 5 theme activities: -Creating a Halloween monster -Writing a dribble (100 word story) -Day of the Dead find-a-word -Mindfulness Colouring -Day of the Dead skulls -Day of the Dead skull masks -Teachers notes and suggested teaching strategies -Answers This resource has been thoroughly designed so no extra prep or specialized ability is needed! It can form a standalone literacy and art lesson, can be left as a cover lesson or used during Form group or ‘Down time’. Can be easily adapted to suit other lessons you may have already planned. A great resource to get learners excited about Chinese New Year 2016! Question Answer Relationship (QAR) is a great technique for encouraging and improving reading comprehension with students. http://www.readingrockets.org/strategies/question_answer_relationship The resource includes 3 clips for students to watch and QAR themed questions for each clip. The clips include: -the story of the 12 Chinese Zodiac -Chinese New Year fable – Nian -a story about the Lantern Festival The resource also includes a web-quest including 9 questions with extension activities (web game and mini art project). Computers with access to the internet, Paint and Office applications and headphones are required. This resource has been thoroughly designed so no extra prep or specialised ability is needed! It can help form a standalone literacy lesson or can be left as a cover lesson. Together all activities should last between 80mins – 120mins. Can be easily adapted to suit other lessons you may have already planned. This lesson should be accessible to years 7-8.
